Organization settings define shared identity, dates, local time, FTE display, support guidance, email-domain rules, MFA requirements, and numbering behavior. Review them before loading historical data or inviting a broad group of users.

Account names, email addresses, passwords, authenticator app enrollment, recovery codes, and personal time zones remain personal account settings. The organization can choose whether an authenticator app is required for standard organization access.

Before you begin

You need the Manage organization settings permission for general and email settings. Changing the separate email policy also requires FTE Tree MFA from within the previous 24 hours in the current session. You need the Manage sign-in security permission and a FTE Tree MFA check from within the previous 15 minutes to change the organization MFA policy.

General settings

Open the organization’s general settings to review:

Organization time zone The organization context used for shared date and time behavior.
FTE decimal display The number of decimals shown for FTE values in pages and on-screen reports.
Organization support contact Short guidance from your organization for members or invited users who need help.
Import-number prefix and length The format assigned to new import numbers.

Choose the historical baseline date

Set the baseline early. It provides a consistent starting date for information that should apply throughout the organization’s history.

Before changing it, review existing setup and imported values. A later baseline can make earlier dates invalid; an earlier baseline may require starting values that did not previously exist.

Use Schedule changes by date to understand how the baseline relates to later business changes.

Choose how FTE decimals appear

Use FTE decimal display to control FTE values shown throughout the app:

Choice On-screen behavior
Automatic Uses only the decimals the values need. Every related FTE value in a table uses the same number of decimals. This is the default.
At least 2 decimals Shows at least two decimals and adds a third or fourth decimal when a value needs it. Related table values remain aligned.
Always 4 decimals Shows four decimals for every FTE value.

Changing this setting affects presentation immediately. It does not change entered values, calculations, imports, or stored results. CSV and Excel exports continue to include FTE values with four decimals.

Write the organization support contact

Use one or two non-sensitive sentences that tell people who inside the organization can help with:

  • Access and invitations.
  • Required company sign-in.
  • The people responsible for billing.
  • Approval or setup questions.

This guidance may appear to a verified invitation recipient before they join. Do not include credentials, private phone extensions, or information that should not be visible to every invited user.

If left blank, FTE Tree provides general guidance to contact an organization administrator or supervisor.

Configure the email policy

Open Settings > Organization > Email policy to limit invitation addresses and organization notification recipients to exact domains. Add every allowed domain separately; allowing company.com does not automatically allow mail.company.com. Leave the list blank when any email domain is permitted.

You can review the email policy without using the MFA window. FTE Tree asks for recent MFA when you submit a change.

Email policy does not choose a sign-in method or prove company identity. Contact FTE Tree Support to enable company sign-in first. An administrator with the Manage sign-in security permission can then configure and change it from Settings > Security & sign-in > Company sign-in. Test both policies with an active administrator before a broad rollout. See Configure company sign-in.

Configure the organization MFA policy

Open Settings > Security & sign-in > Multi-factor authentication and choose Authenticator app optional for standard access or Require an authenticator app for standard access. FTE Tree MFA uses standard time-based codes from any compatible authenticator app, with saved recovery codes as a backup. Making the authenticator app optional adds no FTE Tree MFA check for ordinary entry, but it does not turn off MFA required by Microsoft, Google, or a company sign-in service.

Provider MFA and FTE Tree MFA are separate. If the organization requires both company sign-in and FTE Tree MFA, every member must complete both. An authenticator app does not bypass the company-sign-in requirement, and provider MFA does not satisfy the FTE Tree requirement. Protected administrative changes and personal account confirmation keep their separate FTE Tree MFA requirements regardless of this choice.

Test the policy with a normal member and an administrator. Keep at least one active administrator with a working authenticator app and recovery codes. When company sign-in is enforced, that administrator must also be able to use the company service.

Configure import numbering

Choose a prefix and number length that produce recognizable import references. The setting affects new import numbers; it does not renumber earlier imports.

Coordinate the format with any process your organization uses to record import numbers.

Review setting history

Open activity history for a setting to see when it changed and who changed it. Use an action note when your organization requires one.

  1. Confirm the organization name.
  2. Set the historical baseline date.
  3. Confirm the organization time zone.
  4. Choose the FTE decimal display.
  5. Add the organization support contact.
  6. Choose the import-number format.
  7. Review the email policy.
  8. Choose and test the organization MFA policy.
  9. Configure departments, job codes, position fields, and access.
  10. Test with a small user and data set.
