Dashboards help you monitor staffing and financial results. They update as information changes. Use a report when you need a fixed result to download or share.
Choose a dashboard area
| Area | Your first dashboard | Access needed |
|---|---|---|
| Position control | Workforce overview | View positions |
| Labor budget | Budget overview | View labor budgets |
| Compensation | Compensation overview | View actual compensation |
| A forecast | Forecast outlook | View workforce forecasts, plus the relevant financial viewing permissions |
Your access must cover the included departments. Financial dashboards are included in Workforce Planning. People and assignment measures are part of position dashboards.
Create and manage a dashboard
- Open Dashboards in the area you want to review.
- Choose Create dashboard.
- Enter a clear name and an optional description.
- Select at least one widget and save.
Use the dashboard selector to open a saved view. Manage dashboards lets you open, edit, set a default, or delete a dashboard. Set another dashboard as the default before deleting the current default. Your last dashboard cannot be deleted.
Dashboards are personal. Your choices do not change another member’s view or give them access to your information. A forecast dashboard belongs to that forecast; dashboards cannot be moved between forecasts or work areas.
Customize widgets and chart views
Open Widgets to choose cards, move them up or down, and select chart views. Choose Save changes to keep drawer changes or Cancel to discard them. See Dashboard widgets and measures to choose cards for a particular question.
Compact controls on a chart save its view immediately. In Forecasts, chart-view preferences follow you across forecasts in the same organization. Widget selection, order, dates, and filters stay with each dashboard. In other areas, chart views also belong to the saved dashboard.
Current and fixed dashboards
Open Filters and choose the dates your review needs:
- Snapshot date controls cards showing one day. Current follows the organization’s local date; Specific date keeps a fixed date.
- Period controls trends. Choose Last 6 months, Last 12 months, Last 24 months, or Last 36 months for a rolling period ending at Current. Custom range lets you enter a From date and choose a Current or Specific date end.
- Cadence groups trend points weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. It does not change effective dates or add balances across periods.
Only date controls used by your selected widgets appear. Dates cannot precede the organization’s earliest supported date. Forecast dates must stay within its planning period; a new forecast starts with a fixed full-period dashboard.
Choose departments and job codes to narrow the results within your access. Select Apply filters to save these choices for your next visit. Clear restores Current, Last 12 months, Monthly cadence, and all departments you can access where those options apply. Forecast review-progress counts always cover the whole forecast.
Read charts and exact values
Choose Bars for totals measured from zero or Line to see smaller changes. A line chart fits its scale to the values and may start above zero. Missing values leave gaps. Use Show details for exact values behind the chart.
Forecast comparisons offer Totals and Change. Change means proposed minus starting point, and can be negative. Staffing coverage stays stacked so covered and vacant FTE add to approved capacity.
Trend points are dated balances. Do not add FTE or annualized costs across points. Labor budget and compensation trends carry the latest successful result forward until a newer result replaces it. Forecast trends use the balance at the end of each displayed period. An unavailable value stays blank; a true zero stays zero.
Check results before sharing
Read the calculation status and information-coverage measures. A selected financial result may still be updating or need setup. A subtotal labelled available or provisional may exclude positions that need information.
Forecast dashboards keep earlier completed results visible while Results updating is shown. Wait for the latest calculation when reviewing new proposals. If it fails, open Overview and use the offered recovery action.
For downloads, choose Run report and select the report and format. Downloading requires the Export reports permission and the relevant viewing permissions.
