Position control across education

Keep academic and operating position plans connected.

Use the hierarchy and terminology your institution knows while keeping approved positions distinct from budgets, forecasts, and employee pay.

What education teams can review

Institution structure

Represent campuses, schools, divisions, and central functions.

Changes by date

Show position, assignment, and department changes when they take effect.

Planning alternatives

Compare future staffing and labor budget possibilities without changing approved information.

How it works

Move a department need into a clear position decision.

  1. 1

Organize approved positions through the department hierarchy.

  2. 2

    Maintain assignments and vacancy visibility.

  3. 3

Send position changes through the required review.

  4. 4

Use labor budget, forecasts, and reports for planning.

Evaluate the fit

Follow a staffing change across the planning calendar.

Bring a school or campus administrator, HR, and finance together around a position change for the next term. Keep the approval date and effective date visible.

A worked example

A program coordinator position has 0.8 approved FTE and a 0.5 FTE assignment, leaving 0.3 vacant FTE. A request to increase the position to 1.0 FTE from September adds 0.2 approved FTE from that date after approval. If the assignment stays at 0.5 FTE, the position then has 0.5 vacant FTE. An assignment change is a separate staffing decision.

  • Position and assignment records for the proposed effective date.
  • The full-time standards used for the jobs being compared.
  • A representative approval path and any relevant budget assumptions.
