Overview

An interrupted import does not always mean that nothing changed. Review the status and completed counts before deciding whether to wait, stop, correct, or reverse.

Never upload the same change again until you know what the first import applied.

Read the current status

Status What to do
Waiting or preparing Refresh after a reasonable interval. No rows should be considered applied yet.
Applying Let the active work finish unless the page offers and explains Stop.
Partially completed Review completed row results before any new import.
Completed Verify records; preview reversal only if the imported changes should be undone.
Stopped Check whether zero or some groups completed.

The import overview and activity history provide the evidence for the next step.

Stop an import

If you choose Stop while an import is waiting or preparing, no rows are applied and it stays stopped.

If changes are already being applied, the current group finishes before the stop takes effect. Try again if the page says work is still in progress.

  • A stop before the first group finishes leaves no changes.
  • A later stop creates a Partially completed result and retains completed changes.

Recover a partially completed import

  1. Open row results and note what completed.
  2. Open affected records and confirm their current values.
  3. Decide whether the valid completed work should remain.
  4. If it should remain, prepare a new file containing only missing or corrected work.
  5. If it should be undone, preview reversal.
  6. Contact Support if the completed boundary is unclear.

Do not guess from the CSV row order. FTE Tree may create a record before another row that refers to it, even when that is not the file’s row order.

Preview reversal

Always select Preview reversal first.

The preview:

  • Names the action for each affected record type.
  • Identifies newer work that prevents safe reversal.
  • Shows which imported rows remain eligible.
  • Counts a row once for each listed action when one row saved several related values.

Review every blocked or surprising item before continuing.

Apply reversal

Reversal changes an imported value only when the current record still matches the imported result. This prevents a later user change from being overwritten.

For updated information, reversal restores the earlier value beginning on the original effective date. It does not create a new value beginning on the reversal date.

Records created by the import remain in history. Depending on the kind of record, FTE Tree will:

  • Make a setup choice unavailable.
  • Deactivate an employee.
  • Archive or discard an eligible position.
  • End, cancel, or void an assignment.

The complete reversal succeeds together or leaves the imported changes in place.

Verify after reversal

  1. Reopen the import and review its final activity.
  2. Open affected records.
  3. Check dates and current statuses.
  4. Run the relevant report.
  5. Confirm that later unrelated work remains.

Reversal keeps the original import and its activity history.

When to contact Support

Contact Support when:

  • Applying status does not advance and the page offers no safe next action.
  • Completed rows cannot be determined.
  • The reversal preview is blocked but the reason does not match current records.
  • An eligible reversal cannot finish.

Include the organization, import number, current status, approximate time, and whether anyone started a correction. Do not send the CSV by regular email unless support provides an approved secure method.

Common questions

Is reversal the same as deleting the import?

No. It makes the listed status or value changes and preserves the import and its history.

Can reversal overwrite a later manual change?

No. A current value that no longer matches the imported result blocks that reversal.

Can a partially completed import be reversed?

Yes, when its completed changes remain eligible. Preview first.
