Create 2027 pay review to explore a raise before changing Avery’s approved pay. The plan compares current official information with the outcome of its remaining proposals. The baseline refreshes automatically; recorded review and application evidence remains unchanged.

Before the exercise, review how proposals, results, and application fit together.

Check the starting records

For January 1, 2027, Patient Services Coordinator should be Active at 1 FTE, Avery assigned at 1 FTE, the yearly budget $84,000, and compensation $72,000. Finish the budget comparison if those amounts are not ready.

You need Manage plans for the departments in scope and compensation viewing access to propose employee pay. Applying it requires separate compensation management and plan-application permissions.

Create the pay-review workforce plan

  1. Open Plans and choose Create plan.
  2. Enter 2027 pay review.
  3. Set Start date to January 1, 2027.
  4. Set Through date to December 31, 2027. Both dates are included.
  5. Select Outpatient Services.
  6. Save and wait for Current.
  7. Read the baseline and planned outcome on Overview.

If the department contains other positions, its total includes those too. Use the Patient Services Coordinator row for the course numbers. In a prepared department containing only this example, its totals and the position totals are the same.

Read the first comparison

Before you add a proposal, the Current baseline and Planned outcome amounts should match:

Measure for the course position Current baseline Planned outcome
Approved position FTE 1 1
Assigned FTE 1 1
Yearly budget including benefits $84,000 $84,000
Yearly employee cost including benefits $72,000 $72,000

A full year at the unchanged cost is $72,000 × 365 days ÷ 365 = $72,000. No proposal means no proposed increase.

Current baseline includes official information across the year, including future-dated changes. It refreshes automatically when official information changes. Applied changes then belong in the baseline rather than being added again.

Discuss the workforce plan

Use your own account and a second participant who can read and post in this practice workforce plan. If posting is unavailable to you, follow the instructor’s demonstration.

  1. Open Conversations on 2027 pay review and choose Start conversation.
  2. Enter a practice message such as “Please confirm the planning dates for this workforce plan,” then select Start conversation to post it.
  3. Have the other participant open the conversation and choose Reply to answer in the same topic.
  4. Open the first message’s Message actions menu and review Follow conversation, Mentions only, and Mute conversation. Choose the notices you want for this practice topic.
  5. As the conversation creator, choose Resolve conversation when the question is answered. Find it again under Resolved.

Everyone who can view the workforce plan can read its conversations. Keep protected pay and personal information in their authorized records. When discussing saved results, identify the report or recorded review so readers know which figures you mean.

Return to Overview and confirm that the comparison is unchanged. Resolving a conversation records that the discussion is finished; review and application begin from the change list on Changes. See Conversations and notifications for message history, replies, and email choices.

Watch the baseline update

Keep this pay-review workforce plan unchanged for the next lesson. Use a separate practice workforce plan and two vacant practice positions so these checks do not change Avery’s course figures.

  1. Propose a July 1 suspension for an active vacant position. On the other position, propose an annual Budget rate of $72,000 from July 1. Save them as independent changes.
  2. Wait for the complete comparison and run a report if you need to retain those figures.
  3. Outside the workforce plan, complete the normal approved position change to suspend the first position on that same July 1 date. Record an approved annual Budget rate of $75,000 from July 1 on the second position.
  4. Return to Overview and wait for the automatic baseline update. While results prepare, the previous complete comparison remains available and is labeled accordingly.
  5. Read the changes on Changes. The matching suspension should show Already official: the approved position is suspended, and the proposal will not suspend it again. The different Budget amount should show Needs review. Compare the original information, current $75,000, and intended $72,000 before deciding what to keep.
  6. Open the earlier report, if you saved one, and confirm its captured figures remain unchanged. A conflict prevents a new complete comparison until you resolve the affected proposal.
  7. Revise or cancel the conflicting proposal using its normal controls, wait for Current, and review any remaining proposal before applying it.

The workforce plan’s planning dates stay fixed throughout. Opening an older workforce plan prompts it to check newer approved information; you do not need to choose a new starting date or press an update button. Use workforce plan recovery guidance if preparation stops.

Continue to propose Avery’s raise.
