A forecast compares your proposals with the approved information saved when you chose its starting point. Later changes elsewhere in FTE Tree do not automatically update the forecast. Start by checking the date, type of result, and forecast version you are reviewing.

Before you begin

Viewing a forecast requires the View workforce forecasts permission for its included departments. Budget and compensation results require their own viewing permissions. Correcting, approving or applying changes also requires the relevant management and approval authority.

Check the result status

While Results updating is shown, completed results stay visible and update automatically when calculation finishes. Check the effective date beside the status. Wait for Refreshed before relying on the latest changes or submitting them for approval. A calculation still in progress does not prove the current proposal has been included. Not available means required information is missing; it is not a zero amount.

If calculation stops, read the issue and use Retry calculation after its cause is resolved. Already applied changes remain saved. Do not enter them again to repair the calculation.

Check dates and starting information

Confirm the forecast’s start and through dates and each proposal’s effective date. The end date is the first day a proposed value no longer applies. The starting point can include approved changes scheduled for future dates.

Use Actions → Update starting point when the remaining forecast must include newer approved information. Review its changed effects and complete approvals again. Named results you saved in Checkpoints and completed reports keep their earlier figures.

Check the measure

Monthly cost allocates amounts across the included calendar days. Annualized Position and dashboard amounts describe a rate of cost on one date. Ending FTE is a balance. Budget capacity, expected staffed cost and compensation are separate measures.

A negative difference or signed reduction can be valid, but an absolute rate, cost or FTE cannot be negative. Where the zero minimum applies, the position explanation identifies it.

Check review and application

Open Review and apply to check which groups of changes have already been applied and which are still waiting. Independent groups can remain unapplied after another group succeeds. A group applies once, and related changes save together.

If relevant approved information changed during review, inspect the conflict, update the starting point and review the remaining forecast. If a position request needs files or another review step, open the linked request and complete the stated requirement.

For stopped group work, use Retry remaining work. Canceling remaining work preserves already applied changes. Reversing an applied change requires a separate approved correction.

If the person who started the work is unavailable, another manager with the required permissions can take over and record the reason. Partly prepared copies, starting point updates and bulk edits must finish preparation before further editing; their progress shows the supported retry action.
