Open Reports > History, select the report, and read its preparation status and message. A report that is waiting to be prepared needs a different response from a completed report with missing financial information.

Before you begin

You need the report’s viewing permission for the included information and departments. Downloading CSV or Excel also requires the Export reports permission. Changes to your access can prevent opening or downloading a result you could previously use.

See Roles and permissions for access requirements and department coverage.

If the report is queued or running

Queued means the report is waiting to start. It starts automatically as other reports finish. Keep the existing run open in History; submitting the same report repeatedly will not make it start sooner.

Use Cancel while the report is queued if it is no longer needed. Cancellation is unavailable once preparation has begun. A cancelled report has no completed result; submit a new run if you still need it.

Running means preparation has started. Wait for the status to change. If it remains unchanged much longer than your usual reports, contact Support with the report name, its page link, and approximate submission time.

If the report failed

  1. Open the failed report and read the message.
  2. Confirm its dates, filters, and report type match the intended review.
  3. Correct the specific missing information or invalid choice identified by the message, when you have permission.
  4. For financial or forecast reports, wait for the relevant result to become current.
  5. Choose Run again, review the saved choices, and submit a new run.
  6. Check the new run in History. Contact Support if the same failure returns.

Do not invent a rate, assignment, or other business value to make a report finish. Keep the failed report’s details so Support can identify the attempt.

If a completed report has blank amounts

Completed describes preparation. It does not confirm that all required financial information was available. A report can finish with Provisional, Needs setup, or blank amounts.

Read the named setup reason and any excluded-position count. Fix the dated position, annual-hours, budget-rate, employee-pay, or adjustment information in the appropriate area. Wait for the calculation to update, then run a new report. The completed earlier report keeps its original result.

Use Financial reports for unavailable budget or compensation amounts, or Understand forecast results for forecast status and coverage.

If a download or saved result is unavailable

Confirm that the run completed and that it was created in a downloadable format. An HTML result is intended for review in FTE Tree; choose an offered file format on a new run when you need a download.

Check whether you still have both the report’s viewing access and the Export reports permission. A download never grants extra information beyond your current access. Ask the person who manages user access to review any missing permission or department coverage.

Review the expiry information shown for the report. Saved report results are subject to retention. If a result has expired or been removed, run it again when current information meets your need. A new run can differ from the expired result because later changes may apply. Contact Support when you need help understanding an unavailable historical result; do not assume it can be restored.

Include the organization, report name, page link, submission time, displayed status, message, dates, and filters. Say whether the problem affects one report or several and whether a new run had the same outcome.

Do not attach a compensation or access-report file unless the support process specifically requests it through an appropriate channel. See Contact FTE Tree.
